그 후 2006년에 드러머인 You가 모델로서의 성공을 위해 밴드를 탈퇴하자 음악 학교를 다니고 있던 Tomoya가 선생님으로부터 ONE OK ROCK을 소개받았다면서 멤버로 합류. He was OOR's 5th member & was 2nd guitarist along side Toru. His previous stage name was "Mamoru Shiyou Alec". The band formed in summer 2005 with Toru, Alex, Ryota, and Tomo. Upon Alex leaving the group (early 2009) due to negativity surrounding an incident he had with the law, Toru became OOR's only and lead guitarist. During the band's debut, he was accompanied by another guitarist named Alex Onizawa.
Toru told his friend Ryota Kohama, who had been a fellow member of hip hop dance group, HEADS, to learn the Bass and asked Alex (a former member) to join.

In the summer of 2005, Alex started ONE OK ROCK alongside his high school friends Toru and Ryota, after each of them got their musical instruments. Not long after, the band independently released two mini-albums.
